  • Charitable gifts and childcare costs
  • Anything new you're not sure about

What it costs to start

[STARTING PRICES]

A quote comes before any work starts. The price goes up only with what is attached to the return, like a rental or a business schedule.

For business owners

Books, payroll and business returns, handled.

For the owner with a shoebox of receipts, a lender asking for financials, or payroll that keeps happening at 10pm.

How it works

Three steps from a pile of paper to a clear summary.

  1. Book a 15 minute call

Tell us where things stand. We'll tell you what we'd do first and what it costs.

  2. Send your documents through the secure portal

No email attachments, no shoebox drop offs. Upload from your phone in a few minutes.

  3. We file, and you get a clear summary

Plain English: what was filed, what you owe or get back, and what to watch next.

Questions people ask

Washington has no state income tax, so what do I actually file?

Households: Washington does not currently have an individual income tax, so most families here file only the federal Form 1040. The exception is Washington's capital gains tax on some large long term gains, like a big sale of stocks. For 2025 the first $278,000 of gains is deducted, the rate is 7 percent, and gains over $1 million carry an extra 2.9 percent. Selling your home is not part of it. The Department of Revenue also lists a new income tax on incomes over $1 million scheduled to begin January 1, 2028. It will not touch most households.

Businesses: Most businesses owe the business and occupation tax, called B&O, which is figured on gross receipts, not profit. It is reported on the excise tax return through My DOR, together with sales tax if you sell retail. The Department of Revenue assigns you a monthly, quarterly or annual schedule based on your expected income.

What should I bring for my personal return?

Last year's return, every W-2 and 1099, mortgage interest and property tax statements, records of charitable gifts, childcare costs, and anything new that you are not sure about. Upload it all through the secure portal. The full checklist is on our resources page.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what is involved. A simple 1040 costs less than one with a rental and a business schedule, and monthly bookkeeping is priced by accounts and volume. You get a quote before any work starts. See pricing for starting points.

I'm months behind on my books. Is that a problem?

It is common, and it is fixable. Cleanup and catch up bookkeeping brings the books current, then your return or your lender package is built from real numbers. Start with a free call and we will sort out what has a deadline first. More on cleanup.

How do I send you documents safely?

Through the secure client portal, [PORTAL NAME]. Please never send Social Security numbers, account numbers or tax documents by email or through the form on this site. We send you a portal link after your first call.

Do you only work during tax season?

No. Bookkeeping, payroll and advisory run all year, and if a tax letter shows up in July, you can call us in July. Planning conversations work best in the fall, before the year closes.
